Nicholson was contracted to provide ground improvement for the construction of a parking garage at the Intermountain Healthcare center in Murray, UT. To improve the site’s bearing capacity, Nicholson installed 370 stone columns up to 24 feet deep using dry-bottom-feed methods. The stone columns were installed using a Vibro Stitcher, which is a vibroprobe mounted on a conventional excavator. The Stitcher system offers flexibility when working on busy, congested sites and is less expensive to mobilize compared to a crane mounted vibroprobe.
