Incident and Injury-Free (IIF)
The day-to-day safety and well-being of our employees – whether they are in the field or in the office – is of paramount importance to Nicholson Construction.
Our commitment to providing safe, Incident and Injury-Free (IIF) work environments is driven by our ultimate goal: for every employee to make it home safely – every day.
IIF is a commitment to the elimination of all incidents and injuries and the belief that this is possible. It is the recognition that we are responsible for our personal safety and for the safety of each other. It is our duty; it is the right thing to do.
It is enshrined in the shared accountability of management and associates:
Our Commitment to you:
- If you stop a task for a safety reason, we will back you up.
- If you raise a safety concern, we will address it promptly.
- In the event of an incident or injury, we will conduct our investigation in such a way that no one is blamed. We need to learn so that we can prevent further injuries.
The Commitment we seek from you:
- If it is not safe, do not do it, and do not have anyone else do it.
- If you see something which is unsafe, speak up immediately.
- If you are not sure of how to do something safely, please ask.
We encourage everyone to:
- Consider the principles of IIF in all activities, at work and at home.
- Take responsibility for your own safety and the safety of those around you.
- Choose to follow safety rules and procedures, rather than having to.
